Dear Customers,

Thank you for your patience the past 2 weeks while we rebuilt our entire web service. We had a disk failure. To make a long story short, backups that were supposed to be made for us, were not. This caused the last 2 weeks of rebuilding from the backups we keep.

We are mostly back up and running, the forums will take another couple of days.

Thank you again for your patience.

Poker Academy Pro - Tournament Clock

Poker Academy Pro comes with a nice feature for home games called the Tournament Clock. It takes the task of showing the blind structure, payout structure as well as current level blinds and remaining time.

With support for rebuys and addons it takes the guess work out of payouts. Which is always a a problem at my home game.

You can load your own structure or choose one of the presets.

Polaris - 2008 Man vs Machine Champion

An update to our previous post about this year’s Man vs Machine championship. Heading into the final day of competition the two teams, Machine and Man, were tied with two wins and a tie a piece. This set up an all deciding matchup between Polaris and the Human team of Hawrilenko and Palansky.

In front of the biggest crowd of the week Polaris came out the victor defeating both Hawrilenko and Palansky over the 500 hand matches and in turn has been crowned the 2008 Man vs Machine Poker Champion!

A big congratulations to the Computer Poker Research Group out of the University of Alberta for their work on Polaris and a wildly successful event.

Event summary and results are available via our 2008 Man Machine coverage.

Polaris - Man vs Machine: 2k8

In 2007, Phil Laak and Ali Eslami squeaked out a narrow victory against Polaris and it’s creators. Polaris is back and refined to go up against 5 competitors hand picked by http://www.stoxpoker.com founder Nick Grudzien.

The matches are taking place at the 2008 Gaming Life Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, are sponspored by StoxPoker and powered by Poker Academy. The UofA Poker Group  is live blogging and hand casting the match.

We will be providing all the logs as well as hand analysis once the competition is over. Stay tuned to our Man vs Machine results page for more coverage.

As always, all Poker Academy owners can play against Polaris on PAO at any time.

Poker Academy Pro - Hot Keys

Sometimes, playing poker can be such a chore. Click, move mouse, click. Wait. Wait. Wait. Move Mouse Click.

Luckily, Poker Academy Pro has a very nice little feature of hot keys.  Using these can make the game much easier to control from the couch or leaning way back with your feet up on your desks.  These are customizable to be anything that is most convenient for you.

To get to the customization screen:
From any table window go to the

Options menu, and select Edit Hot Keys.

Prospector - 3rd Party App for Adding Live Tournament Results

Prospector’s first third party application has been made by a user. It is free to use (although he provides no support) and gives you the ability to add your Live Tournament winnings for your bankroll.

The app creates a Poker Stars summary that can be imported into Prospector. It is a really simple interface and requires no help. Best of all, it is open source and the source code is included should anyone want to add any features.

Once you create the Tournament summary, save it in the same directory as your PokerStars (or any other site you play on) hand history folder. Prospector will then import it automatically.

You can download the file here: Live Tourney App

Poker Academy Prospector - Tournament Editor

We like to think that we are magicians when it comes to the tournament summaries, but sometimes even we can’t foresee everything.

Not every site provides a tournament summary for us to parse (Full Tilt for example), and Poker Stars ones need to be requested from their automated service. The tournament editor can help you make your tournament data a lot more accurate by having you fill your known fields.

The editor can be launched from the Database Tab by selecting the tournament with the incomplete information and selecting ‘Edit Tournament’.  Fill in how much you have invested, how much you were awarded to help you get on track quickly and easily.
